The Schoolhouse, built in 1892 and for nearly 100 years a primary school, is a Dublin Icon. It is a unique, extraordinary building which houses a great bar and restaurant and 31 luxurious 4 star rooms. We are passionate about our food. The schoolhouse is Dublin's only true gastro pub serving fresh, innovative food in a relaxed, informal atmosphere- and all with prices that will pleasantly surprise! From "Dublin's best burger" (Irish Independent) to stuffed whole Quail; from scallops and oysters to Lamb Shank and prawn & pancetta risotto, it's all about quality, not formality. The interior is unique and stunning - 40 foot beamed ceilings, huge log fires and bags of character mean that the Victorian charm sits perfectly with it being a great place to eat, drink and stay. In addition to the wonderful bar and restaurant there are lovely gardens that trap the evening summer sun beside the Grand Canal, which runs next to it. There is no better place in Dublin to enjoy great food or a cool, creamy pint (or both!) than in the bar or on our terrace. And all this is only 10 minutes walk from the city centre!

I ate here on Friday night. We had a drink in the bar first and ordered our food for the resturant from there and were called when the first course was ready. The food was fantastic. The fish cakes were beautiful. There were 2 steaks ordered and both were perfect, done to order perfectly. There was no room left for dessert! Service is top noch and food to die for. Definitely check it out if you can.
